A growing number of ocean and river cruise lines have suspended all operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions around the world.
The shutdowns, which come after two months of altered itineraries, cancelled cruises and port closures, are part of the cruise industry's efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus and to keep passengers, crew and communities safe and healthy.

From Greenland to Greece and Iceland to Israel, five Holland America Line ships are set to explore the cultural kaleidoscope of Europe in 2021. The brand's collection of vessels crossing the pond includes Rotterdam, which is slated to debut at the height of the summer Europe season. Joining the fleet's new flagship will be Nieuw Statendam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam, putting two Pinnacle Class ships in the region. Zaandam heads to Europe on the popular "Voyage of the Vikings" itinerary in July.
From April through November, the five ships will offer itineraries ranging from seven to 35 days, as well as longer Collectors' Voyages up to 29 days. In addition to transatlantic crossings between Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Europe, the ships will visit the Baltic, British Isles, French and Spanish rivieras, Iberian Peninsula, Mediterranean and Northern Europe including Greenland, Iceland, Norway and the North Cape.

Prebook shore excursions and save 20% Guests who make their 2021 European cruise reservations now can take advantage of 20% off on shore excursions when prebooked by Sept. 23, 2020. With hundreds of tours to choose from, guests can find the perfect way to experience a port, whether it's an exclusive evening at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, a visit to Reykjavik's famous Blue Lagoon or witnessing the mysterious landscape of Giant's Causeway in Belfast.

Viking announced its new 2021-2022 Viking World Cruise, which will span 136 days, 27 countries and 56 ports, with overnight stays in 11 iconic cities. Setting sail on December 24, 2021, from Fort Lauderdale, the itinerary will include three new ports of call for Viking, including Phillip Island and Eden, Australia, as well as Yangon, Myanmar.
Pricing for the 2021-2022 Viking World Cruise starts at $49,995 per person and 2022 World Cruise Horizons starts at $45,995 per person, based on double-occupancy. Both of Viking's new world cruise itineraries include Business Class international air, transfers to and from the ship, all gratuities and service fees, complimentary visa services, the Silver Spirits Beverage Package, and free luggage shipping services for embarkation.
Guests who book between now and September 30, 2020 will receive an additional $2,000 per person in shore excursion credit for any optional land programs and $1,000 per person in shipboard credit which can be used toward optional tours, spa services, onboard shops and beverages. Viking Explorer Society members who book the 2021-2022 Viking World Cruise or 2022 World Cruise Horizons through September 30, 2020 will receive an additional $1,000 in shipboard credit per person. Both voyages will also have a limited-time period with a reduced deposit at booking.

Victory Cruise Lines (VCL) has announced the all-new Risk-Free Booking Policy: Come Home to America in 2021. As part of the new offer, guests who book their 2021 voyages by September 30, 2020 can receive up to $1,400 in savings when they pay in full.
In addition, guests have the option to change or cancel their voyage up to 121 days prior to departure and receive a full, 100% refund. Per the offer's terms and conditions, the $250 administration fee associated with VCL brand cruise bookings will be waived for all 2021 bookings made prior to the September 30 expiration date and cancelled at least 121 days prior to departure. The policy is valid for future and existing 2021 cruise reservations, including group bookings, and is not valid for re-bookings from 2020 to 2021.

Bolette's maiden voyage will be a seven-night 'Scotland & Northern Ireland' cruise, setting sail from Southampton on 5th March 2021. This will be followed by two further UK cruises before Bolette sets sail for the warmer climates of the Azores and Madeira over the Easter break. Sailings for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' second new ship Borealis have gone on sale today, with the inaugural programme featuring a number of brand new itineraries setting sail from Liverpool in 2021. This follows the launch of Bolette – another new ship for the cruise line – which went on sale last week.
The ship will sail almost exclusively from Liverpool across the 2021 and 2022 programme, and will be taking on existing itineraries for Black Watch, which was retired from the fleet in August, as well as five brand new itineraries. Emerald Waterways has announced that 2022 European river cruise sailings are now available for booking. With 75% of the full schedule on sale now, travelers looking to book a 2022 getaway can choose from favorite itineraries on the Danube, Rhine, Moselle, Rhône, Saône and Douro rivers in Europe spanning more than a dozen countries.

In keeping with the festivities that a new year brings, Poseidon Expeditions introduces its new 2021 Arctic and 2021-22 Antarctic seasonal adventure cruises aboard the 114-passenger Sea Spirit. Rates will not be increased to journey to the "Top of the World" with Poseidon Expeditions in the summer of 2021. Instead, rates will mirror those in 2020 for the same journey. Three departures are scheduled in July and August 2021 aboard the 128-passenger 50 Years of Victory, a nuclear-powered icebreaker.
The program began in 2001 and to date more than 4,600 polar adventurers have traveled north with Poseidon. Travel to 90ľ north latitude and the North Pole in 2021 will be on the following dates: July 10-22, July 21-Aug. 2, and Aug. 1-13.
Rates for these departures will mirror those for the summer of 2020. Early Bird discounted rates (for bookings confirmed before Oct. 31, 2020) start at $29,445 per person with the discount. In addition to not increasing prices from the 2020 season, Poseidon announced that gratuities for the crew and expedition team will now be included in the 2021 rates.
