| Silver Cloud completes drydock refurbishment at Italy's T. Mariotti Shipyard in Genoa Silver Cloud, the 296-guest all-suite ship which launched Silversea's unique brand of elite luxury travel in 1994, has just completed a major drydock refurbishment at Italy's T. Mariotti Shipyard, bringing her suite interiors in line with the style of the newest additions to the Silversea fleet, Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper. Guests joining Silver Cloud on future voyages will notice new furniture in the suites including sofas, chairs, tables, vanity stools and headboards, new "soft" goods including bedspreads and draperies, and the addition of new artwork in all of the suites. General maintenance items and new carpet in all of the suites and a number of the public areas rounded out the list of upgrades and enhancements aboard the six-star Silver Cloud. ![]() "The launch of Silver Cloud in 1994 and sister ship Silver Wind in 1995, revolutionized small-ship cruising as the first vessels to offer truly all-inclusive pricing combined with 75 percent verandas, and large-ship amenities such as a multi-tiered Show Lounge, lap pool, and expanded public areas," said Senior Vice President of Vessel Operations Robin Lindsay. With the addition of the 382-guest Silver Shadow in September 2000, Silversea embarked on the next chapter in its fleet innovation and growth, introducing vessels to take the line's vision of elegance and exclusivity into the new millennium. Silver Whisper, sister ship to Silver Shadow, recently debuted to great acclaim on its Inaugural Voyage July 2, 2001. "Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper have been incredibly well received by our guests, the press, and the travel agent community, and we're not surprised as they were designed and built on Silversea's past success with Silver Cloud and Silver Wind," continued Lindsay. "Looking at the exterior profiles for all of the ships in the Silversea fleet, you can see the sleek design is the same for all of our vessels. The refurbishment of Silver Cloud brings that same continuity to the ship's interiors utilizing the furnishings, fabrics and color schemes found aboard Silver Shadow." Silver Wind is scheduled for drydock in mid-October at the T. Mariotti Shipyard. (Source: Silversea Cruises ) |
