Desert Shadows goes to sea: top rated nudist resort offers Windstar naturist cruise. Fully Commissionable seven-day cruise featuring Spain, Portugal and Star of Survivor scheduled for June 2001
Desert Shadows Inn Resort & Villas, ranked among the very top nudist resorts in the world, will set sail in a new direction next year when it introduces its first luxury naturist cruise.
The Palm Springs resort has arranged with Windstar Cruises to offer a fully-commissionable seven-day cruise between Barcelona and Lisbon, June 3-10, 2001, featuring some of Europe's most popular nudist beaches. The entire ship, with 74 outside cabins, will be reserved for Desert Shadows Inn Resort guests.

Highlighting the voyage will be the participation of Richard Hatch, who, as winner of the $1 million prize on the hugely successful television program, Survivor, demonstrated his fondness and appreciation for a clothes free environment.
David Martin, renowned expert on Portuguese and Spanish nude beaches will also be on the cruise. The Windstar in Ibiza

The luxury cruise, which will provide a clothes-free environment throughout the ship (except in the dining room and on deck while in port) is priced from $4185 to $4465 per person, based on double occupancy, including port charges and gratuities.
Airfare is not included in the price.
Desert Shadows management points out that this is the first in an ongoing program of cruise offerings.

Desert Shadows Inn, which opened the first full-service naturist spa in the U.S. in 1997, was chosen the number one nudist resort in the world by Lee Baxandall, author of World Guide to Nude Beaches and Resorts and the top nudist resort in the United States by USA Today.
H&E Insiders Guide to Worldwide Naturism, published in Great Britain, said of Desert Shadows, "It's an American attempt at European chic-and it works."

The Desert Shadows Windstar cruise departs from Barcelona, site of the 1992 Olympic games, on June 3. The first port of call is Menorca, followed by the island of Formentara, both offering nude beaches.
Other ports include Ibiza, Europe's entertainment capital, and Marbella on the Spanish Gold Coast, for more beaches as well as sidewalk cafes, shopping and excursions to such landmarks as the Alhambra, Seville or Malaga.
After cruising through the Straits of Gibraltar, the ship will sail up the Algarve coast of Portugal to Lisbon.
Pre- and post-cruise itineraries are also available.
